ParticipantGZT pulse (L cun floating and weak) with a Huang Qi pulse (R guan big and hollow). Those two pulse pictures are in the SHL pulse notes. I suspect if you’re using GZJHQi for yellow sweat disease (from the JGYL) it may be possible to see a little bit of slipperiness to the L Cun.

GuestMark Gearing, would this be same as a JZT pulse, or HQiJZT pulse?

ParticipantXiao Jian Zhong tang would have more of a wiry R guan w/ R >L, as the double BS shows up in the pulse. Huang Qi Jian Zhong tang may have a similar pulse (GZ pulse and a Huang Qi Pulse on R guan), but the key would be checking the level of the left guan for a Xu Lao / taxation pulse (comparing R and L guan levels).

ParticipantSince you specifically ask for GZJHQT which has a really intersting pulse picture for Water Qi Disease in Ch.14 of the JGYL, I have to elaborate. The LHS can fail to rise with the RHS being thin wiry. Or, the L cun and guan fail to rise and the R pulses are floating wiry big. Or, both hands thin faint weak (good to keep in mind if FZ is not working, for example). Or, L cun and guan thin wiry and RHS weak. I like using HQi these days as often or more than FZ, so I try to keep these pulse possibilities in my mind when possible. Did you want that detail Emma?

ParticipantI was just thinking creatively about GZJHQT from the point of view of the progression of yellow sweat disease that has gone on for a long time . Chapter 14 line 29 of the JGYL says: “If (yellow sweat manifests) with heat effusion after sweating, over time the body will inevitably develop encrusted skin. If heat effusion is incessant, it will inevitably engender malign sores.” Also: “All sores belong to the heart” as we see in the 19 lines. I was thinking about what might happen if heat effusion is continuously striking the skin and tissues, the fluid layer would heat up and then the blood layer would heat up, developing into sores or perhaps a skin rash later on. It’s not in the notes, and I apologize if I am off base here. Just trying to think of possible progressions of the pathology . Often we see clients after problems have gone on for a long time. I would think that it might begin to show up in the pulse a little by first showing the beginning of the heating up of the blood layer, before switching patterns completely . My sincerest apologies if it was misleading. I should have made it clear that it was my own thoughts on the subject.
