My partner has acute LLQ abdominal pain. Started yesterday, pain 6-7/10. Pain is constant, worse with pressure, sharp, w/ some inhibited urination which exacerbates the abdominal pain. Abdomen shows tense, distended lower abdomen on both sides w/ splash sound in the epigastric region, and pain with even very light pressure in both the LLQ and RRQ, but much worse on LLQ. Yesterday he had chills and constipation, and his pulse was thin, wiry L2 + L3, roll up, and the right side was tight R1, wiry R2 and tight R3. I gave him 2 doses of THCQT and his bowels moved, but he still in a lot of pain. Some acupuncture eased the pain and it shifted from the LLQ down to the testicles, but it didn’t last long. By night time the pain was much worse, and the pulse changed to strong wiry all along right side, with a strong roll up. Significant pain all night and this morning. I’m due to drop a baby any day, so I’m not really thinking straight. Should I persist with the THCQT? Or head to a DHMDPT? Am I missing something really obvious?TIA.

Start with DCHT.

Thanks Arnaud. He has had a couple of loose BMs, this morning and currently the pain has eased for the last 3-4 hrs, but can come back in short sharp waves. Does that change the DCHT? I considered this, but yesterday his chills and inhibited urination led me to THCQT.

Thanks everyone. I think in my comment above, I was thinking of DCQT. Prego brain!! He is doing much better today. Been in bed, but very little pain. Have made DCHT up and will check on him soon.

Funny thing about DCHT is that we always think about it for constipation, but it’s important to remember that whenever the bowels are talked about in relation to DCHT in the lines, it’s never mentioned for constipation, but rather diarrheoa is mentioned.

No more pain after that first day! Gave DCHT for a day and only some tenderness remaining. Took him to Graham on Day 3, who thought it was a kidney stone (he gave a SNS + ZZ, HB,YYR). Pain is all gone now, and urination and BMs are back to normal. We both now have just got delightful shao yangs (!!!!). We made it to 39.5 wks with no colds or sickness all year – so a bit of a pain. So now it’s XCHT mod and being snotty and a bit sorry for ourselves and hopefully having this baby soon!
